Strawberry jam

Finally, I managed to cook my own jam! Last summer I bought some beautiful jars but never found time. Until the last weekend. Our local grocery shop was offering big packages of strawberries and I bought two of them. One part I used for the strawberry sponge cake (recipe here) and the second part ended up in this wonderful, chemistry-free jam! Another plus is - its really not rocket science :) After tasting this jam, you will never ever buy it in a shop!! :) I guarantee that :)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of strawberries
  • 0.5 kg of sugar
  • 1 lemon (juice)

Directions

Cut the strawberries into small pieces, place them into a pan, add the sugar and lemon juice and approximately 1.5 dcl water. Cook for about 1.5 - 2 hours and mix regularly. In the end, jam should get thicker and thicker, you will notice for sure :) Wash and dry the jars properly, and pour the hot jam into them. Close the jars properly and turn them upside down and cover with a kitchen towel or a blanket, leave them rest during the night (this process will conserve the jam, so you can eat it at a later stage).
