French Toast

Dear readers! This time, I would like to introduce my version of French Toast or "Pain perdu". Not sure how many of you know this meal already, but I actually knew it only in salty version (i.e. only eggs with salt, which is also lovely, especially made by my mom :) ). I discovered in New York and it was sooo delicious :) that I had to try to prepare it at home. Last Sunday I planned to do the big spring cleaning and needed to motivated my man to help me, hence a perfect opportunity to prepare some french toasts :)

Ingredients

(you can make around 4-5 toasts from these amounts)

  • bread (I just used what we had at home, any kind that you like)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 big spoons of brown sugar
  • cinamon
  • 1 bag of vanilla sugar or vanilla essence
  • 75 ml of cream (double cream)
  • 2 big spoons of butter
  • maple syrup
  • fruits (for example bananas fit perfectly, or raspberries, but it is not obligatory)

Directions

Preheat your frying pan and butter (not oil please). In a bowl, whisk together the egg with cream, cinamon (as much as you like), vanilla sugar and one spoon of sugar. Take your toast and dip it in the bowl with mixture from both sides, but only for a quick moment, otherwise the toast will become too moist. Add the resing sugar in the frying pan and fry your toasts on it from both sides. It should be nice brown and crusty. Serve it with maple sirup and cut fruits of your choice. I recommend bananas! Enjoy!! :)
