Croissants with bacon and cheese

Are you preparing an apero? Or just something quick for the road? Try these wonderful crosissants I am going to show you today. It is super fast, simple, cheap and delicious (of couse only if you are not a vegetarian because we are going to use some bacon!). With the following dose you will have around 16 pieces.

Ingredients

  • puff pastry (1 package)
  • bacon (cut into thin slices, you will need around 12 slices)
  • slices of cheese (depends on your preferences, what kind of cheese you like, but I use basic Emmental or something similar, you will need also around 12 slices)
  • 1 egg
  • salt

Directions

First of all, unpack the ready made puff pastry (sorry, I know that proper chef does everything himself, but I never did the puff pastry myself so I always ended up buying ready made pastry and there was nothing wrong with it...) and use the rolling pin to stretch it completely. The final thickness should be around 1-2 mm and then cut it into regular squares (cca 10cmx10cm). Put a slice of cheese on each square and then slice of bacon (just like in the picture).

Then you have to roll it into shape of croissant. Take one corner and roll it slantwise (in the direction of the opposite corner). Attach the other corner properly that it doesn't open in the oven. Try not to press it too much, otherwise the pastry won't rise that much. Put your croissants on the drip pan with baking paper. Break an egg into a cup, add some salt and stir it with a fork properly. Using the pastry brush, brush each croissant with the egg mixture on the top. Now you can put it in the oven, for about 20 min at 180°C but I recommend checking it regularly. It should be nice brownish. Hope you will love them!!
